The MISS Foundation's Dr. Cacciatore started the Kindness Project in 1996 as a way for families to cope with the tragedy of a child's death. Since then, more than 1,000,000 kindnesses have been committed around the globe in memory of children, gone too soon.


Tomorrow I am going to do something. On the website they have a pile of really good ideas from buying the person in line behind you a coffee, dropping off balloons for a random child at the hospital, mowing a neighbors lawn, donating money or clothes, etc. To see more ideas, look HERE.


I am having a bit of a sad day. I have a few Tripp things on my mind. I think because of this I can't seem to decide what I want to do tomorrow. Ideally, I would like to do something that donates my time, like weeding someone's flower beds, but since I am a bit down I am leaning more toward buying someone flowers and leaving them at a random house. It seems easier to just buy something, so that is probably the route I will go.


The website suggests that you can leave a card with your gesture that says, "This random act of kindness was done in memory of __________". I am on the fence whether or not I will leave a card with this on it, but I think ultimately I will. I might also leave the Kindness Project website so that the recipient will have the background. I suppose it doesn't matter if they know why the act was done, but I will probably leave it in memory of Tripp anyway. If I buy someone a coffee on the other hand, I probably won't mention it. Its harder to say outloud.


I would love for you to do a random act of kindness in Tripp's name tomorrow. If you do a random act and feel comfortable, could you let me know what it is by posting it as a comment on my blog (feel free to leave it anonymous if you like)? It will brighten my day to read the happiness that Tripp is bringing to our world.
Maybe I will just cut some of the lilies in my backyard to give to someone. They are stunning right now.


UPDATE:
I hit the dollar store and my garden and for less than $10 and a little bit of love and elbow grease, voila! These will be delivered to three random doors tomorrow.

    I was unsure as to whether I should leave you a note but decided to in the end. I am the recipient of one of your bouquets and they are lovely. I've only read the blog post that I am responding to as I feel a bit like an intruder, but you have brightened my day. If you will allow it, I would like to pass on a random act of kindness today in Tripp's memory.

    Thank you. Although I don't know you or your family, I will forever remember your act of kindness today and the happiness and light that Tripp has brought me today.

    As an aside, my husband brought these flowers in today and placed them on a side table in front of a small decorative plate in our living room that my sister gave me as a wedding present. It has the Corinthians 13 verse on it: Love bears all things, Believes all things, Hopes all things, Endures all things, Love never ends.

    I'm not particularly religious but I thought it felt right that, of all the places in my house, this is where the bouquet ended up.

    I love where you have sat the flowers. Corinthians 13 is a beautiful verse and it does seem fitting. I am so glad you found your way here.

    You are not an intruder. When I put "Tripp Vincent" on the card I wondered if it would bring someone here. I googled his name to see and was glad when I saw my blog in the first 5 hits. I guess a big part of me wanted him to be found.

    Please read as much or as little as you like.

    I would be honored if you passed on an act of kindness in Tripp's name.

    I talked about your kindness project today with Grandma, Auntie Tomoko and Seina. Grandma got to see your beautiful flower arrangements and the photo of Tripp on the computer while we visited today.
    We were out at MetroTown and Seina was the beneficiary of my act of kindness. She found a few bathing suits for her upcoming trip to camp at Harrison Lake. Her shopping experience was my treat.
    I know she will pass some kindness on to someone else.
    What a special way to make a better world and remember Tripp.
    He has a special mom.

On Tuesday, I had this brilliant post formulated in my head. Then just before supper the power went out. Although the internet went down with the power, I still could have just written it on the computer to publish in the morning. Instead, I took full advantage of a sick child (who slept on the couch most of the evening) and a husband who was in the city (at his Grade 8's Farewell). I read. And also did some texting. Guest Post Luke: Men at Ikea

     I've recently been blessed with 2 trips to Ikea in the last 3 months, and with a lot of time on my hands while in Ikea I came to notice a few similarities in all the men walking around there.   As I was taking notes on every man I saw, and mostly myself , I came up with different types of guys and what their role was with their significant other.          The first guy, who I believe to be the most common, is "The Turn Back Man".  This man believes that, just like in racing, if he stays in front of his significant other he can use drafting to increase her speed and keep her on track.  This never works and he subsequently becomes the "Turn Back Man".  He is constantly 4 steps ahead and turning back over and over when SHE sees something else they "might" need.  It is tough, because when entering Ikea men want to do as little walking as possible, but this has us taking even more steps. Calder missed nailing our baby's arrival by 4 hours. Boone James Hamilton was born at 3:59 this morning. Boone is doing well. We got back some positive test results today and will hopefully get the remaining few tomorrow. He gets to spend the night with us and at this point that is all we can ask!
