Candy Crush is making me lazy

The last few weeks I have spent not accomplishing much. Hugh has been home quite a bit. There hasn't been a lot of hail around. This is great for crops and gardens, alike, but not good for those wanting to do a bit of work crop adjusting. Side note: Last year I had some serious hail damage in my garden, particularly my pumpkins. I LOVE my garden, so I asked Hugh if there was any insurance we could buy to protect my pride and joy. He looked at me like I was crazy and simply walked away. I took it as a no.

Hugh is the kind of dad who does half the parenting, so when he is around we are typically equally busy with the boys. The last couple of weeks with Hugh being around I have seriously slacked off. On an ordinary day when I am at home alone with the boys we have a little trip planned, I cook all the meals, am a playmate, and do household things like laundry, baking, and cleaning. I am not super mom all the time, but by the end of the day there is usually a list of things I have accomplished or of things the boys and I have done together.

The last few weeks, my list includes regular parenting duties, reading, Let's Pretend This Never Happened, by Jenny Lawson, and Candy Crush. Candy Crush? I actually debating even talking about it. It is so addicting. I had seen some posts on Facebook about it and decided to check it out. I can't stop playing it. Hugh made fun of me at first, but has since joined the Candy Crush insanity.

Before you start, please read, Spent $127 Playing Candy Crush and Candy Crush Saga: Why you play and why you pay. The second article explains a bit of what the games about, so if you haven't seen hints of it on Facebook that would be a good place to start. For the record, I have only spent $0.99 - so far :-)

Needless to say, since Hugh has been home I should have been getting more done - more things off of my personal list like working on photos, videos, and gardening, which are all things I enjoy doing. Instead I haven't even been doing laundry, cooking or dishes (thank goodness for Hugh!).

I  got my butt in gear yesterday and it felt great to get some stuff done!  Imagine that! I might have to take a break from Candy Crush this weekend to continue on this "get stuff done" trend. But is the weekend and aren't you supposed to do things you love on the weekend? Ha! Already making excuses to play. See, I told you. It is addicting.

Happy Friday!

  1. Avoiding this game like the plague!

I spent all last summer laying on the couch (gagging) playing iphone games! :)

Seriously. ALL SUMMER. Remember that if you ever start to feel a bit guilty. :)

  2. I was hooked on that game until we went away for two weeks and I haven't played since. You need an intervention ;) Either that, or make it so far that it gets so hard that you don't want to play anymore. I think that was part of the reason I quit as well!

I have been reading Jenny Lawson's book as well. It is so hilarious! I hope you are enjoying it too!
