A pregnancy post

Here I am at 28 weeks. I am currently 30 weeks. I have been WAITING to get to 30. It feels like 30 is so much closer to the end than 29! I will also be excited to get to January, which is the next milestone I will be counting down. I don't want this baby coming early for obvious reasons, but I especially want it to wait until 2015 to make it's appearance.
I know I had the big rant about my weight the last time I posted. Well, I had an appointment on Friday and I basically didn't gain any weight the last month. Don't panic. I wasn't dieting. I just stopped eating before bed. The main reason for this was my acid reflux. It got so bad that I actually had my doctor prescribe me some medication for it, because I was struggling so badly to control it. I have acid reflux when I am not pregnant and it shows itself mainly by giving me a very sore throat and scratch voice.

I will have an ultrasound at the start of January. This would be considered routine for my "high risk" pregnancy. I am actually kind of excited for this one. It has been a while since the last!

I am happy to report I plan to go back to teaching in January. When I was pregnant with Boone I was done at the end of December. I am feeling pretty good still - especially compared to how I was feeling 2 years ago. My Braxton Hicks have just started to get more painful, which is actually quite amazing! I am hopeful that I can have a relaxing vacation and head back in January geared up to finish the last 3 weeks of classes and then final exams. My doctor recommended taking Friday's off. I have taken a few in December and I really feel this has helped me maintain my health. I am actually getting to recover after my Thursday treatments.

Everyone still asks us what we are having. We love the surprise, so of course have not found out. That being said, I had a little Italian woman at CTC (where I get my treatments) make a prediction. She is an older woman and has a strong Italian accent. She is the exact stereotype you are picturing! Apparently, a pregnant woman had come in early and she made a correct prediction on what the woman was having (the pregnant woman had just had an ultrasound confirming the sex of the baby). The CTC manager, Sam, urged me to get the Italian woman to "do me". I thought it would be fun, so I obliged. The Italian woman stood beside and gave my belly a rub for about 5 - 10 seconds and promptly declared, "It's a boy!" We had a giggle and Sam asked if she was sure. The Italian woman leaned back, took a quick look at my backside and declared, "Definitely a boy!"  She then told us that a "flat butt" was the sign of a boy. So much for being bootlicious while pregnant! The Italian woman told us she has only been wrong, "One or maybe 2 times". LOL

    You look so good Jordan and I am glad to hear that you are feeling relatively good. I love that you guys are keeping it a surprise, it's like an Xmas present that you can make guesses and predictions for 9 months. :) Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season.

On Tuesday, I had this brilliant post formulated in my head. Then just before supper the power went out. Although the internet went down with the power, I still could have just written it on the computer to publish in the morning. Instead, I took full advantage of a sick child (who slept on the couch most of the evening) and a husband who was in the city (at his Grade 8's Farewell). I read. And also did some texting. But mostly I read (There was a moment that I thought I should conserve the power on my cell phone in case it the power took its sweet time coming on, but it was short lived. Guest Post Luke: Men at Ikea

     I've recently been blessed with 2 trips to Ikea in the last 3 months, and with a lot of time on my hands while in Ikea I came to notice a few similarities in all the men walking around there.   As I was taking notes on every man I saw, and mostly myself , I came up with different types of guys and what their role was with their significant other.          The first guy, who I believe to be the most common, is "The Turn Back Man".  This man believes that, just like in racing, if he stays in front of his significant other he can use drafting to increase her speed and keep her on track.  This never works and he subsequently becomes the "Turn Back Man".  He is constantly 4 steps ahead and turning back over and over when SHE sees something else they "might" need.  It is tough, because when entering Ikea men want to do as little walking as possible, but this has us taking even more steps. Calder missed nailing our baby's arrival by 4 hours. Boone James Hamilton was born at 3:59 this morning. Boone is doing well. We got back some positive test results today and will hopefully get the remaining few tomorrow. He gets to spend the night with us and at this point that is all we can ask!
