Truth and Lies

Of these four statements, three are true and one is a lie. Can you guess which is the lie? When I was living in P.A. a bartender did one of those "blowing fire" tricks and started my hair on fire. While waiting in line at Warmart last year a snobby looking chick tried to edge me out of line. After politely saying, "excuse me, I was here first" and getting no response, I rammed my cart into hers and forged ahead. At the Warman Rodeo a few years ago a drunk cowboy bumped into me and didn't apologize. I threw my entire beer down his back. While teaching in Brooks I participated in a teacher relay and while rounding the bend got ahead of myself and wiped out in front of every track athlete in the division.

The Library, Cookies, and Puppy-Dog Kisses

After school I hurried home to spend some mommy-son time with Calder. I decided it was time for Calder to make his first trip to the library to sign out books. At first he was just interested in running around and playing. Eventually we got around to doing some reading. Calder and I sat in the rocking chair in the corner and read 4 or 5 books. And not the 10 word board books like the one in this picture. Real books with actual stories. And he didn't try to whip through the pages. He sat there and soaked up every word. After supper last night I suggested to Calder that we make banana muffins. He thought it was a great idea, pulled up a chair, smashed an egg and was promptly distracted by Hugh "playing" downstairs. I was left to make muffins by myself. Tonight, it was a dif...

My Writing Mood

Tuesday night I was sad. I wanted to write something sad, but instead, after a little fight with myself, I made myself write about something funny. Pretty soon I wasn't making myself write. Pretty soon I was completely engulfed, enjoying my task. I laughed out loud as I wrote. Hugh wanted to read it. He laughed. It felt good. I feel good. Have a good Wednesday. P.S. My house is clean. . . It is MAR-VEL-OUS (that is me singing loudly).

5 Foot Chicken II

I just crept back onto the blog that is home to the 5-foot Chicken .   If you did not originally flip to the link, I BEG you to read it.  Way too funny.  I think I am going to start following her blog . Yesterday, she posted an update to the 5-foot chicken . Today, she posted a speech that she recently did at a conference.  It is about 10 minutes long, but it fits well with my happiness project. She reminds people to do crazy, stupid, silly things, because those crazy, stupid, silly things can bring you happiness and, more often than not, those things can bring happiness to other people. I started to think of some of the crazy, stupid, silly things I have done. Not surprisingly, most of them were done while drinking.  I thought back to when I used feverishly dance behind anyone who thought it was cool to grind and make out on the dance floor.  They would be so caught up in swapping slobber, they wouldn't even notice me right behind them.  LOL. I w...
