Summer 2016

Image
We spent 7 glorious weeks at the lake this summer. Highlights include: ·          Hours on the boat. Hugh dumped the boys off the ski trainer tube in June and it took a while to get them back behind the boat. Funny, but not funny!  My parents got the kids this giant tube for Christmas and it didn’t take long for Calder to be standing, jumping, and acting crazy in general on it once July hit. Boone didn’t love tubing, but he did do it. Lawson LOVED it and often would cry when we had her in the boat and not out on the tube. The tube was also great for floating. The kids loved jumping on it and off it. No one more than Lawson. She has perfected the belly flop and would do it dozens of times in a row (Hugh gained some serious upper body strength hoisting our girl back onto the tube). We also enjoyed many a picnic lunch on the boat. Meat sticks, cheese, pickles and veggies were our go-to. And nothing like a bag of chips on the side. Every. Si...

Indoor Adventure

Image
Hugh and I have been itching to hit the Forestry Farm Zoo this spring, but the weather has been sucking. When we heard it was going to continue to be sucky on the weekend, we planned an indoor adventure with our good friends the Gates'. We packed up the kiddies and headed to the University to tour around and check out the dinosaurs.  This was the best group shot. That is clearly not saying much. The only kid we got a good shot of was Dylan. Oh well, Kerri and I look smashing ;-) Chris and Hugh. I do love a selfie! Calder and Dylan I had to include a better shot of Drew. He is a ball of cute! Also had to include a better one of Boone - who is also a ball of cute! The University was a great way to kill a couple of hours. We toured in through Place Riel, headed down through the tunnel and over to Thorvalson. Then through Biology and Agriculture. The kids ran, laughed and had a great time. The only thing I would do differently next time would be not to go during ...

Girl's Night Out - Tisdale Style

Image
I should have taken a picture of super. It was divine. Two of my dearest friends growing up live in Saskatoon and the three of us try to get together for a girl's night out once a month. Twyla and her husband are getting close to completing an addition and a pile of renovations to their house and so Twyla agreed to host (we usually eat out. . . who wants to cook ;-). I was excited to see their new and improved digs. Let me just say it is gorgeous. I am not sure why I didn't take any pictures of their house!  Let's just say the largest island in the kitchen I have EVER seen, not to mention the most cupboard space! And for all the men - there is a TV in their master bathroom! Our change in venue suited Delayne just fine as well. . . but for other reasons. Twyla makes KILLER cakes and after a bit of whining Twyla agreed to make one for Delayne whose 29th birthday is on March 9th! Take 1 - I called a re-do because I didn't want to be alone in the front row of ...

Court

Image
We all have those friends. The ones we don't see enough. The ones that regardless of time and distance things always pick up right where they left off.  Courtney is one of those friends. Court and I this past summer at her wedding. Hugh, Court and I the night before our wedding (2006). I had wanted to show a picture of the two of us at my wedding, but I can't find the digital copy of ANY our wedding photos right now. This is a problem. Time flew by tonight. We ate and discussed just about anything and everything under the sun. I loved every minute. As Courtney messaged me tonight after I got home, " I seriously had such a great time tonight. I know I've said it before, but I freakin' love our friendship!! xoxoxoxo " Dito.

From High to Low

Saturday I was motivated by my friend, Deena (who got me thinking - you will see later this month in her 2nd addition of the Mommy Diaries) and by my sister-in-law Abbey (who just moved into a beautiful house in Martensville). I decided to get some serious cleaning/organizing done! I started with the pantry. My friend, Danielle, has a pantry from a magazine.  All of her pasta and cereal are in neatly stack organized containers (mine are in bags spilling off the shelves). She even has dishes stacked up in decreasing size. My pantry could possibly cause us to be sued. There are no guarantees that when you open the door something won't fall down on your head and if you take the risk of stepping in, there is nothing stopping you from rolling an ankle. Enough was enough on Saturday. I didn't get containers to organize my pasta, but I did move everything back from the edge and put it in it's proper place. As well, I vacuumed up the half a bag of puffed wheat that had been spill...

Sunday Afternoon in Pictures

Image
The Rosthern Corn Maze  with the Simairs ( Deena , Dan, Willis and Lucia). I couldn't stop staring at those darn pigs while we were at the corn maze, and now I keep scrolling back to the picture! :-) lol Some random field on the way home. Deena posted about our adventure yesterday. She has some other great pictures of our day. . . She also has another picture of that pig. Check it out HERE . You know I have been back more than once!

Friday Night Company

Image
On Friday night we had company in from Florida. Hugh played hockey down there for a couple of years and in the process became good friends with Terry. Terry married a wonderful girl, Adrienne, and in 2008 they had a daughter, Sarah. I was so happy that Hugh got the chance to catch up with Terry. It had been too long. Hugh and Terry's friendships is one that time doesn't change. It is easy. I was so glad they got a chance to reconnect. Much of the conversation was spent reminiscing. Although I wasn't part of any Florida memories, I laughed along with the three of them. I don't think I will ever get tired of hearing about Edna. No - she wasn't some girl that Hugh or Terry dated, nor did she stalk them at the rink (that girl's name was Jen). Edna was their car. I am not even going to begin to try and explain her, but if you ever want a chuckle, just ask Hugh about her. Specifically, ask him about Edna's rules, valet parking, and taking out barricades. C...
