What I'm wearing

Image
After my Simons' flop, I recently picked up three pairs of jegging capris at Costco. I think they were about $16 each. I got them in grey (above), teal (also above), and white. I absolutely love them and have been wearing them like crazy. My favorite of the two outfits is the bottom one. The jean jacket is Mavi and I HIGHLY recommend it. In fact, I recently bought another. Exact same style, different wash. This jacket was recommended by both Deena and Christy , so you really can't go wrong. The scarf is one I picked up this spring (Gap). I heart orange and teal . Last week I mentioned trying to define my signature look and that bottom one pretty much encapsulates it. . . And here it is again. LOVE this one too. Cardigan and scarf are recent purchases along with the grey tee (Old Navy). Jeans are old (American Eagle) and shoes are old (Nine West). I can't wait to recreate this one! These. Jeans. (Gap). I can't get enough of them. I wore them to professional ...

Simons' Follow-up

Image
I purchased almost $700 of clothing online from Simons about a month ago. I was giddy with anticipation. I got the box and immediately raced to the bedroom to try it all on. . . . And then I packed it all back up and mailed it back. I didn't score 1 item. The main item I wanted for the spring was some new colored denim. I actually really like the color of the pink pants I'm wearing above. Like REALLY like it. The problem was the back pockets. They were quite small and I didn't like how my butt looked.  That is hilarious to write.  Hugh thought I was looney until I showed him my tush in a pair of pants with larger back pockets. He then, much to his own disbelief, agreed with me. As much as I wanted those hot pink pants, I returned them. I also quite like the look of the blouse, but I couldn't move in it. #tight Last week Deena and the crew at the Blended Blog looked at leggings paired with scarfs. Recently, Deena has got me thinking about my signature l...

Five on Friday

Image
1.  We just subscribed to Shomi  . You can set it up to be billed through your cable service provider or through your credit card. I chose credit card because that way I could easily use it on a second device. Hugh and I have gotten into Vikings and I have fallen in love with Jane the Virgin.  Boone fell in love with Bubble Guppies!  There is lots more content I am excited to explore. I will let you know what else I find! 2.  Deena wrote a fabulous post about receiving a Hall of Fame award at the Shellbrook Sports Awards on Saturday. Our team, the Ganza, won 9 provincial titles in a row and in the tenth year went up a category to attend Westerns winning silver at provincials. I was with the team for the last 5 years.  Ganza was truly special.  I am #4.  3.  The back to work countdown is on. I head back next Thursday for a half day (unofficially) and Friday for a full day (officially). I am starting in a new building and have 2 new mat...

Catch Up

Image
I haven't been finding the time to blog and have been feeling guilty about it! Why do I do that to myself?! LOL Here is a quick catch up . . . Mostly in photos! Halloween came and went. These costumes will likely go down as my favourite of all time. I am actually hopeful that the kids want to dress the same next year. It was a gorgeous evening on the 31st. No snow, no breeze, no toques needed. We had our usual 150 trick-or-treaters who were all done by 7:30 pm. I took the ultrasound photos down from our fridge about a week ago. This was emotional for me. Those big ones on the bottom were Tripp's, so they have been there 5 years. I have looked at them many times and wondered how long I would leave them up. They likely would have been up longer, but Lawson's picture at the front is starting to crack. I felt like if I was taking hers down, they all needed to come down. Hugh noticed right away that I removed them. It was a moment for him too. I don't know a ...

Random Thoughts

Boone-isms He calls cats "meows" and fire t rucks and ambulances "ah-wee-ohs". He likes to pretend sleep all the time. Even did it at Costco last week. I felt seriously jealous. I wanted him to shop so I could crawl in the cart and actually sleep.  Calls his fingernails toenails. This caused some laughs before we realized his mistake. He would say, "I chew my toenails" and "dare toenail in my mouth". Chewing fingernails isn't all that appealing, but it is certainly a step up from toenails! Lawson's new moves She is seriously motoring these days. The forward crawling has picked up speed and she has figured out how to get herself from crawling to sitting. This accomplishment has meant a much happier girl in our eyes. She doesn't get stuck places and can stop and play wherever she wants. Lawson eats a lot and will eat just about anything. Some of the more interesting things she likes include salmon, souvlaki pork chops, lasa...

Random Musings

Image
I am FINALLY getting out of the house. We went to Regina last week and I was excited to wear some normal clothes. And by normal I mean nursing and baby belly friendly, but not the muumuus I've been living in (aka Hugh's t-shirts).  I was excited to try mixing patterns. I LOVE these camo leggings Deena picked up for me this winter. I tried it with a scarf I got last spring that is still one of my favourites. I also got to wear my jean jacket because it was such a nice day. It doesn't quite do up yet, but it didn't have to! • • • Boone is really started to string some words together. He continues to repeat everything, but now says things like, "me backyard" and "stop, Calder". Our favourite two word string that he says is "come on" - Only Boone turns it into one word, "mon". I love it. Boone sleeps in a sleep sack. Lately, he has been partying it up in bed. Houdini like, Boone removes the sleep sack (the zipper is safety pinn...

Fall Challenge - Final Week

Image
So I got played out these last few days. Didn't feel like wearing a couple of the outfits and didn't bother to take a picture of a couple more. Needless to say, I only have one day for you :-) Day 17 - Long Cardigan, Solid Tee, Leopard Scarf, Legging, Neutral Flats I went a bit off the mark with this one. My classroom is cold, so flats are out and I had worn the leopard scarf the day before. I also wanted to try a bit of pattern mixing to axed the black leggings! It is getting so dark out here. This picture was taken at 4:30 pm and because it was overcast, I couldn't get a good picture with my phone. Sigh. Winter is definitely on its way! Style Me Pretty Fall Edition - Week 3

Image
Day 12 - Neutral Sweater, Fitted Tee, Leggings, Leopard Flats Felt like mixing it up with some camo leggings (Aritzia - Thanks Deena!). I love those leggings and will be wearing them LOTS this winter. Sweater (Bluenotes), Boots (Steve Madden). Day 13 - Puffer Vest, Plaid Shirt, Grey Jeans, Riding Boots I found the grey jeggings at Costco ($13.99). I originally got them one size up from my regular, but I couldn't even get them up over my thighs! Needless to say I ended up going back twice and settled on a couple pairs that will fit me and my regular body at a later day and a couple pairs, 3 sizes up, that fit me now. For that price, I figured I couldn't go wrong (but possibly a tiny bit overboard!). Top (non-maternity Bootlegger).   Day 12 - Military Jacket, Stripped Tee, Leopard Flats, Dark Wash Jeans I didn't read well and thought it had black jeans, thus I missed the opportunity to wear my regular jeans on the weekend! I really like this look. Top (Th...

Style Me Pretty Fall Edition - Week 2

Image
Day 3 - Plaid Shirt, Dark Denim, Ankle Boots, Tassel Necklace I wasn't quite sure I liked the ankle boots, so didn't wear them out. I have since returned them! I don't think they will get enough wear for the $75! The necklace is copper and was my 8 year anniversary gift from Hugh. I liked the contrast with this outfit. Shirt is non-maternity, so I look forward to continuing to wear it in the spring! Day 5 - Long Cardigan, Solid Tee, Grey Jeans, Plaid Scarf, Ankle Boots This is my least favorite outfit of the challenge so far. I like the scarf, but don't like how it is tied. I also am not sure about how much I like that much of my leg exposed in the leggings. My lady parts are covered, and I have nice legs, just not completely comfortable in these pants. I think I would have liked the leggings with tall boots. Day 6 - Sweater, Dark Jeans, Plaid Scarf, Riding Boots I wish the sweater was bigger, but as I said on the FB page, it was only $10 and I ...

Style Me Pretty Challenge Week 1

Image
Day 1 - Stripped Shirt, Boyfriend Jeans, Ankle Boots, Long Necklace I did the exact opposite of what the challenge encourages us to do. I wore yoga pants and an old t-shirt all day. Normally this wouldn't really bother me, but I left the house and I have this one little rule about leaving the house looking like a scrub. That rule is "Don't leave the house looking like a scrub." Now you may be thinking, "Don't be too hard on yourself" and "We all have those days", but do you go out with crusted food on the front of those yoga pants and beet stains on the front of your shirt? I didn't think so. LOL Day 2 - Military Jacket, White Shirt, Black Jeans, Tall Boots, Plaid Scarf So here is what I planned to wear, but I didn't make it out the door (I completely missed the military jacket part, you will have to wait until it comes around again to see mine). Scarf (Joe), Shirt (Thyme), Jeans (American Eagle), Boots (Aldo). I think I would hav...

Style Challenge Shopping

Image
I began my Style Challenge shopping a week ago Friday. I found a plaid shirt that is a tunic style. It isn't maternity (yah!) and it covers my bottom (double yah, since I am only wearing leggings these days). I wanted to buy a number of other things that day - particularly a scarf, but didn't find anything I liked. On Thursday after my treatment, I decided to make a stop at Value Village on my way home. I read a blog about finding boyfriend jeans at thrift stores (sorry, can't remember where I read it to link it) and I wanted to give it a try. I have a pair that I like, but they are a bit higher in the rise and haven't fit me since August. I REALLY didn't want to invest in another pair - but I knew that if I could find a pair for cheap that would run me through my pregnancy, that was a whole other story. The author of the blog suggested looking at slim cut jeans in a few sizes larger than the size you would normally wear. I figured it was worth a try. I actually...

Random Thoughts

I mentioned a couple of posts ago that Calder had a great time going to the library at school. So far, I have been "on the ball" when it comes to school stuff (stay tuned, because it will never last). On Monday morning, the day the books were due back, I had Calder go to his room and put the books in his bag. I watched him do it and then had him deliver the bag to Hugh in the kitchen so his lunch could be packed. After school, I asked him how the library was and he reported that he couldn't get any books because his old ones weren't returned. Perplexed, I asked him if he forgot to pull them from his bag. Calder told me he looked in his bag at school and they weren't there. Hugh confirmed what I swore I saw that morning. The books were in the bag when he packed his lunch. As Hugh and I brainstormed where they were, Calder piped up that "Maybe the zipper on my bag came open and the library books fell out." Oy . Nothing else fell out of his bag, yet someh...

Summer Style Challenge

Image
Day 10 - Stripped tee, coloured shorts, statement earrings, metallic sandals I love this outfit. I think partly due to the new black shirt (Gap $7) and cheap shorts (Joe Fresh $3). I am wearing a leopard belt from Target as well. Oh, and my new fancy gladiator sandals! I finally found a pair that felt good (Coach - of course. . . . me and my snobby feet). Day 11 - Bright Tee, Printed Shorts, Sneakers, Fedora I was at the lake and it was ACTUALLY NICE OUT! I threw on a tank (Old Navy) for the first time in 2014. I'm not sure about the colour of this one with the shorts (Gap). I feel like it is too bright. Whatever. I had it with me! I also didn't have my sneakers, but wouldn't have worn them on the beach anyway! Day 12 - Printed Shirt, White Shorts, Metallic Sandals, Statement Earrings This outfit may look familiar. I was supposed to wear it last week, but it rained, so I mixed it up. I didn't have the white shorts, so was pumped to get to officially wea...

Summer Style Me Pretty

Image
Day 3 - Khaki Shorts, Stripped T-Shirt, Statement Necklace, Metallic Sandals I LOVE the outfit (t-shirt - Old Navy, shorts - Gap) on the left. Not shockingly it was too miserable to wear it. I was disappointed. My classroom is normally UBER hot at the end of June so this would have been the perfect outfit. I ended up pairing the stripped top with my boyfriend jeans (American Eagle) and a sweater (Joe Fresh). I don't have any khaki pants, so I thought the tan sweater kept the spirt of the outfit while allowing me to retain some heat in my cool classroom!   Day 4 - Tank, Printed Shorts, Metallic Sandals, Fedora On the left is the outfit I wanted to wear (tank - Old Navy, shorts - Gap, fedora - Gap), but the weather here was miserable, so I wore what's on the right (skirt - Gap, jacket - Bootlegger). I'm still unsure what I think about the fedora. I even tried to wear it this weekend at a friends for practice and barely left it on 15 minutes. I think I will enjoy i...

Summer Style Me Pretty Challenge

Image
The Style Me Pretty Challenge is back! Here are the first couple of days: Day 1 - Coloured shorts, white tee, statement earrings, metallic sandals There were no shorts in the forecast for me, so these bottoms were subbed in and are deep purple (I got them for around $12 at the Bay!). I dressed it up with a popover (Gap) and nude heels (Nine West). Statement earrings I've had forever and, you can't tell, but I am also wearing a leopard belt (Target). Day 2 - Denim shirt or vest, stripped top, white shorts, sneakers I'm still not sure what I think about the denim shirt (Gap). I guess I probably don't like it because I can't decide on it and I've owned it for a couple of months. I wore it twice for the spring challenge and haven't pulled it out since. I don't have a jean vest yet, so thought I would give it a go. I definitely like this outfit more without it. The striped top (Gap) was $6.67 and I bought it in 2 other colours I loved the price a...
